Sahaja Yoga Meditation is good for heart, mind, body and soul. When we enter a state of meditation we enter a realm of silence. The thoughts, which assail us, fade away and the reality of the present is revealed to us in all its intensity. Our senses send us a direct image of the world, which is not altered by our mind or our emotions.
When the inner energy flows through the energy centers, it manifests a physical indication of obstacles in the energy flow path and imbalances in the specific energy center. Paying attention to these indicators tells you that you have a problem that needs to be corrected – whether mental, emotional or physical. It also provides clues to the root cause of the problem. You can then work on the problem energy center and remove the blockages using appropriate energy.
Reduces stress
Thoughtless awareness is an effective stress relief strategy. The sense of inner calm you experience relaxes your mind and body while sharpening your focus and improving your decision-making ability. This balanced state of being, in turn, boosts your emotional resilience, which ensures that you can effectively cope with stressful events in the future.
Once your inner energy is awakened, your attention turns inward and self-introspection improves significantly. You become more focused on how to improve yourself and make yourself valuable to others. You are able to be a more balanced person, rather than expecting people around you to adjust to you or provide solutions to your problems. This balance brings about a powerful change in your personality. The people around you quickly notice an improvement in your attitude and your peaceful and calm nature.
Enhances potential
The inner sense of peace and calm that Sahaja Yoga Meditation provides can also help you effectively communicate with everyone around you. The energy center at the cervical plexus (energy center #5) governs clarity of speech, communication and ability to interact with others. Once the inner energy energizes this center your communication and relationships improve significantly.
As the inner energy rises through the energy center in the cardiac plexus (energy center #4), you are filled with genuine compassion and kindness. You become more sensitive to the problems of those around you and in fact, all across the world. You empathize and sympathize with others, and try your best to be of help to as many people as you can. Over time, as you continue to meditate, this energy center become stronger and your positive qualities become stronger. The inner energy inside you is, itself, the reflection of the divine energy and, in fact, pure love. Once awakened, this powerful inner energy will naturally fill you with love and compassion.
As the inner energy passes through the energy center in the solar plexus (energy center #3), it nourishes this center and establishes a deep sense of contentment within you. You begin to enjoy what you have, rather than chase what you don’t have, which can only lead you to be unhappy.
The energy center at the aortic plexus (energy center #2) is responsible for providing the vital energy and creativity needed for performing all our actions. Once the inner energy is awakened, it energizes this energy center and continually nourishes it to provide more creativity on an ongoing basis. Depletion of energy and imbalances in this specific energy center make us feel tired, exhausted. The practice of Sahaja Meditation helps keep this energy center vitalized and in balance, which gives a big boost to energy levels and creativity.
Ever notice how small children capture our attention? This is entirely due to the power of innocence. We are captivated by their innocence, a power that results from having a clean, uncomplicated mind… a state that we lose as grown-ups. The energy center in the pelvic plexus area (energy center #1) is responsible for our innocence and also provides qualities of wisdom and our ability to make the right decisions for ourselves and for others. Just as a baby tends to be at the center of attention in any room, you develop a kind of magnetic personality that attracts other people. And your qualities of wisdom and innocence continue to improve over time.
Reveals spirituality
Sahaja Yoga Meditation’s ultimate purpose is to take you to the depths of spirituality. First, you learn what spirituality actually is. In simple terms, spirituality is finding your own spirit or soul and actually experiencing its subtle nature. Second, spiritual enlightenment through Sahaja Yoga Meditation is about connecting the inner energy that you were born with to the all-pervading divine energy. Once you achieve this connection, also known as Self-Realization, you begin to discover the truths of spirituality and understand the tremendous role that spirituality can play in your life. You can then lead your life with this deep spiritual understanding of yourself and your place in the world while enjoying all other aspects of your life – career, family and society — and all in a balanced manner.
Improves health
There have been literally thousands of published research studies linking meditation to changes in metabolism, blood pressure, brain activation and many other bodily functions. Britta Hölzel, a psychologist at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School recently lead a study that used M.R.I. brain scans taken before and after the participants’ meditation regimen. The study found increased gray matter in the hippocampus, an area important for learning and memory. The images also showed a reduction of gray matter in the amygdala, the region connected to anxiety and stress. In addition, a 2009 study suggests that meditation may reduce blood pressure in patients with coronary heart disease. And a 2007 study found that meditators have longer attention spans.
Neuroscientists have found that meditators shift their brain activity to different areas of the cortex – brain waves in the stress-prone right frontal cortex move to the calmer left frontal cortex. This mental shift decreases the negative effects of stress, mild depression and anxiety. There is also less activity in the amygdala, where the brain processes fear. Research shows that Sahaja Yoga Meditation can be effective in relieving asthma and respiratory illnesses. A study of a large group of severe asthma sufferers at the Natural Therapies Unit, Royal Hospital for Women in Australia revealed tangible benefits after 16 sessions of Sahaja Yoga Meditation. Compared to the control group who received relaxation as therapy, the Sahaja Yoga Meditation group showed a significant reduction in severity of asthma symptoms, as measured by airway-hyper-responsivity to chemical challenges.
Studies show that Sahaja Yoga Meditation, which produces inner calm and razor-sharp focus and clarity, shows great promise as an alternative treatment for people who have ADHD. Studies have shown that Sahaja Yoga Meditation can produce significant improvements in symptoms of ADHD. Compared to a control group that received no treatment, children who meditated had significantly reduced attention problems, impulsiveness and hyperactivity. Other study results included improvements in the children’s ADHD behavior. Children reported better quality of sleep, increased concentration and fewer conflicts in their lives.
